Forestry +F courses
This short, yet informative course provides Learners with the knowledge and practical competencies needed for the treatment of injuries and diseases that could occur whilst working in a forestry/agricultural specific environment. Topics covered are: extreme hot and cold temperatures, managing catastrophic bleeding, crush injuries and Lyme disease.
This qualification is designed to accompany a regulated First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work qualification and has been specifically developed to meet the recommendations of the Forestry Commission First Aid at Work Policy.
Outdoor First Aid courses
These courses are designed for anyone working in the outdoor environment, particularly those working with groups in outdoor pursuits. If you require this type of course to obtain or maintain an instructor qualification - PLEASE double check that the course criteria meets that of your awarding body

Advanced First Aid - Pre Hospital care
QA Level 3 First Response Emergency Care (RQF) 'FREC 3'
This regulated and nationally recognised prehospital
care qualification is ideal for those seeking a career in
the emergency services, ambulance service, the event
and security medical sector or those who work in high risk
workplaces.
Over a 5 day period, learners will gain the knowledge,
skills and competencies needed to deal with a range
of prehospital care emergencies, such as: managing a
patient’s airway, catastrophic bleeding, management of
fractures, medical emergencies and more.
Endorsed by The Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care – The
Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and fulfilling the
competencies set out in the PHEM skills framework at
descriptor level D, this fantastic qualification is perfect for
a range of roles in emergency care, such as: Event Medical
Responder, Emergency Care Support Worker and more
Administering Emergency Medical Gases (RQF)
Administering Emergency Oxygen (RQF)
Safe Administration of Penthrox
has been specifically designed for those who have a responsibility for providing treatment to patients who need medical gases administrating in Prehospital care environments, such as: those working in the police force, fire service or private ambulance sector
Catastrophic Bleeding Control
Skill Set Medical is an approved Celox training centre.
One of the most common and potentially preventable causes of traumatic death following major trauma is haemorrhage.
External Haemorrhage Control – A Stepwise Approach
An interactive course that combines theory and practice, to enable military and civilian emergency responders to recognise and manage catastrophic bleeding. The practical session includes prosthetic models with bleeding effects so learners get to manage haemorrhage in almost real time. Learners will be assessed during practical sessions to ensure they have attained the skills necessary. Certificated, worth up to 7-hours CPD.
First Aid for Mental Health courses
Level 1 award in Awareness of First Aid for Mental Health RQF
Half day course
The learner will :
know what mental health is, why people develop mental health issues, and the role of a First Aider in mental health
know how to provide advice and practical support for a person presenting a suspected mental health condition
know how to recognise and manage stress
know how to recognise a range of mental Health conditions.
Level 2 award in First Aid for Mental Health RQF
full day course
As per Level 1, plus
Understand the impact of substance abuse on mental health
Understand the first aid action plan for mental health and be able to put it in place
know how to implement a positive mental health culture in the workplace
Level 3 award in Supervising First Aid for Mental Health RQF
two day course
As per Level 1 and 2, plus
Understand a range of mental health disorders and the support / therapy provided by professional healthcare providers

About our founder
I've been involved in Nursing & First Aid; practice and instruction since 1987 and have experience in many spheres of healthcare: from Accident & Emergency trauma to working as ambulance crew on 999 callouts; working within the secure environment of a Category A prison to a typical hospital ward environment as well as hostile environments.
Experience:
An Army Veteran with 23 years experience within the Regular and Reserve Forces I have also worked in the NHS and Private Sector as a Nurse, Trainer and Manager.
